If our physical posterity could augment its spiritual dexterity, exactly what would that entail?

According to Romans chapter 6, Calvary’s cross is the foundation for victorious Christian/grace living. It is where Christ performed and finished His work to pay for our sins—so we could die with Him to sin’s power, be buried with Him, and be raised again with Him to “walk in newness of life.” “Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof” (verses 11,12). “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (verse 23).

Yet, two groups converted under Paul’s ministry believed they could live the Christian life. Defined in Romans chapter 7, Paul himself had been confused in this way—and how he was such a defeated, disappointed, depressed soul! He did not walk according to the grace truths of chapter 6, and the only way out of the trap was to re-learn them as presented and amplified in chapter 8: “Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify [put to death] the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God” (Romans 8:12-14).

Human nature, the sin nature we have inherited from Adam, has two extremes. One is lasciviousness, as in loose, crazy, wild conduct (humanism/philosophy)—and that would be the Corinthians who lived in the very depths of sin. The other is ascetism, which is strict works-religion or legalism (Law)—and that would be the Galatians who lived in the very depths of self-righteousness. Both groups were stuck in the misery and hopelessness of Romans chapter 7, trying and failing to copy Jesus Christ’s life when only He can live the Christian (His) life!

To repeat, victorious Christian living or grace living is Romans truth, found in Paul’s most basic epistle….

If our physical posterity could augment its spiritual dexterity, exactly what would that entail?

Dear young reader, do you remember the Greek word for “dispensation?” It is “oikonomia,” as in “house laws.” A related term is “oikonomos,” or “house-distributor” or “steward,” the employer who dispenses provisions throughout his master’s estate as that boss directs—allotting funds to this location, assigning food to that area, allocating supplies here or there, and so on. Luke 16:1-4 illustrates this, with the “stewardship” there also being “oikonomia.” In Luke 12:42, we read: “And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?” As in the previous references, “steward” is the title of one who “give[s] them their portion of meat in due season [appropriate time].”

According to 1 Corinthians 4:1,2, Paul is a “steward” (“oikonomos”), as the beginning of his ministry is the “due season [proper point]” to reveal “the dispensation [“oikonomia”] of the grace of God” (Ephesians 3:2). To wit, Paul is the “house-distributor” as the resurrected, ascended, and glorified Lord Jesus Christ directed him (showing him what information he would then teach the world through preaching and penning 13 Bible Books, Romans to Philemon). Paul is our “apostle” (Romans 11:13), as in our “sent one” (Acts 26:17) or messenger from Christ. As Paul speaks and writes, so the Lord Jesus Christ Himself speaks and writes: “If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant” (1 Corinthians 14:37,38).

Denominationalists wholly object to dispensational Bible study because it prevents them from grabbing verses out of context, and it thereby exposes as faulty and false their theological systems built on countless verses lifted from their contexts. Therefore, unfortunately, willful/deliberate ignorance abounds: “Not only do I not know, I do not care to know!” Unless we start using God’s Word God’s way (not man’s way), we have neither hope nor prayer in the world of ever understanding or enjoying it….

If our physical posterity could augment its spiritual dexterity, exactly what would that entail?

“Dispensation” is an important word in Scripture, and you need a King James Bible to have it all four times (1 Corinthians 9:17; Ephesians 1:10; Ephesians 3:2; Colossians 1:25). We want to pay extra close attention to the latter two references.

Observe: “For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;…” (Ephesians 3:1-5). “Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God; Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:…” (Colossians 1:25-27).

The noun form of the verb “dispense,” a “dispensation” is simply “a body of truth/data/information God distributes to man for his faith and obedience during an age or time period.” “Dispensation” in Greek is “oikonomia,” from which “economy” is derived (their pronunciations are extremely similar). How is God managing His household today? To wit, what are His house rules or house laws (“oikos,” “house;” “nomia,” “rules/laws”)? From heaven’s glory, the resurrected and ascended Lord Jesus Christ gave to the Apostle Paul the instructions or blueprints that govern what the God of the Bible is doing today in “but now” (cf. Romans 16:25,26; Ephesians 2:13; Titus 1:1-3).

Again, it is not enough for us to be Scriptural or Biblical, for we must also be dispensational….

If our physical posterity could augment its spiritual dexterity, exactly what would that entail?

When determining the will of God for us, we must first and foremost make sure we understand that being Scriptural or Biblical is not enough. After all, remember, even Satan quotes verses (see Matthew 4:6 and Luke 4:10,11). Though Psalm 91:11,12 was true and the will of God for someone, Christ knew it was inapplicable to Him and His first coming, so He did not obey Psalm 91 like Satan pressured Him. Contexts are always important; therefore, we should never isolate verses or lift them from their settings.

As we read Scripture, we must take extreme care to note: (1) who is speaking/writing, (2) to whom are they speaking/writing, and (3) what are they speaking/writing. Christendom customarily skips the first two and goes straight to the third. “I want to follow this verse!” “But that verse is not to or about you!” “So what, I will take it anyway!” Tens of thousands of denominations, cults, and sects were thus created. How miserably they failed in differentiating between “time past,” “but now,” and “the ages to come!”

The only verse that tells us to “study” the Bible tells us how to study it: “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). Paul’s method for “rightly dividing” the Scriptures included separating “time past,” “but now,” and “the ages to come” (Ephesians 2:7,11-13). Moreover, he wrote, “Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, But now is made manifest,…” (Romans 16:25,26a). “Mystery” truth, what God kept secret since the world began but has now revealed to and through Paul, is not to be confounded with “prophecy,” what Peter defined as “which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began” (Acts 3:21).

If we have eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts to believe, we are that much closer to discovering God’s will for us….

If our physical posterity could augment its spiritual dexterity, exactly what would that entail?

How needlessly the human species struggles to understand the will of God. Even “Christian” church members—whom we would expect to have a little more spiritual sense than they do—are so misinformed and/or uninformed because of denominationalism and man’s wisdom! Dear young friend, you might be shocked to learn it, but figuring out the will of God is not as difficult as people think. Here is a proposition that you would do well to note: if you can find out what the God of the Bible is doing today, and do that by faith, you will do the will of God. It really is that simple.

What we need to start out recognizing is the Bible timeline, which precious few grasp. To wit, the Scriptures are a progressive revelation, as the Holy Spirit gradually unfolds Father God’s purpose and plan for man. Moving from the Book of Genesis all the way through to the Book of the Revelation, fragmentary information uncovered gives way to a complete unveiling. The Bible from end to end is laid out as follows: “time past” (past), “but now” (present), and “the ages to come” (future).

Read Ephesians 2:11-13: “Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.” Also, verse 7: “That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.”

When Bible passages distinguish between Jew (“Circumcision”) and Gentile (“Uncircumcision”), we are reading information relating to “time past.” However, when we read about God not making such a distinction, that is “but now.” A third category of time, “the ages to come,” is how the first two will converge to bring God’s one master plan to fruition….

If our physical posterity could augment its spiritual dexterity, exactly what would that entail?

Draw your attention to the fig-leaf aprons of Adam and Eve in Genesis 3:7—their religious efforts or futile attempts to regain the spiritual light of God (righteousness) that once covered their now-naked bodies. After works-religion proved unsuccessful, they again evaded accountability by hiding from God (Genesis 3:8-10). Finally, after the LORD exposed and confronted them, Adam shifted the blame to Eve (thereby indirectly accusing God who gave him Eve—“God created me this way!”), then Eve shifted the guilt to the serpent (“the Devil made me do it!”) (Genesis 3:11-13).

Here is human psychology 101. Such a scenario has played out trillions of times since then. Firstly, do whatever you can to cover up your sin. Secondly, hide when that cover-up demonstrates itself useless. Finally, dodge the liability altogether by blaming God or Satan. Man goes to great lengths to justify himself, to declare himself righteous, as he in his pride has no use for God’s standard of righteousness that he has failed so miserably to meet. See, the Bible takes a negative view of man, for it tells the truth about him: that Book of God has embarrassed him! Hence, man in his feebleness aspires to ignore the Scriptures, challenge them, discredit them, change them, and so on, to clear himself. In willfully neglecting to admit his inability to save himself, man is further fallen into the snare or trap of the Devil.

The grace of God is the only thing that can deliver man from satanic captivity and spiritual nakedness, so God works to restore man to himself: “Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them” (Genesis 3:21). Such shedding of animals’ blood, innocent beings taking the place of guilty ones, is a type or hint or preview of the cross of Calvary 4,000 years in advance. However, on this side of the cross, where God has dealt with sin once for all, there is still cover-up and denial (works-religion), hiding, and blame-shifting.

May we submit to the righteousness of God by faith….

If our physical posterity could augment its spiritual dexterity, exactly what would that entail?

Dear young reader, abstain from all drugs and alcohol. Cigarettes and vapes contain poisonous, addictive chemicals that increase the risk of various cancers (mouth, throat, tongue, et cetera). Intoxicating beverages shrink the brain, destroy the liver, stress out the heart, and negatively affect the stomach. All these products age the body, people ending up ill in a hospital or prematurely dead in a morgue. Frankly, you can locate millions of individuals today whose bodies are permanently disfigured or ruined because of drugs and alcohol (cf. 1 Corinthians 11:30)—missing limbs, blindness, extensive scarring, cirrhosis, brain damage, and a plethora of additional health complications. Some are even doomed to live with the knowledge of having taken other’s lives. I have a friend who repeatedly overdosed on illegal drugs, almost dying on those occasions. A lady I knew smoked cigarettes for 50 years, nearly perished because of diminished lung capacity, quit smoking, and then spent her last 20 years finding it increasingly harder to breathe!

Since it is human nature to seek entertainment—to be thrilled, frightened, delighted, and so on—drugs and alcoholic beverages are tremendously appealing. Yet, Paul the Apostle reasoned: “All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power [mastery, control, domination] of any” (1 Corinthians 6:12). Indeed, there is freedom under grace, but the absence of an express prohibition does not necessarily mean an action is “expedient” (profitable, useful, beneficial). Once identified, any and all addictions should be avoided. As opposed to being under the influence of wine (or any other mind-altering substance/addiction), the Holy Spirit should control our thinking and conduct: “See then that ye walk circumspectly [cautiously, looking around], not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;…” (Ephesians 5:15-18).

If our physical posterity could augment its spiritual dexterity, exactly what would that entail?

Dear young person, Satan’s scheme to topple God’s institutions of marriage and family is clever and multifaceted. Howbeit, even nature teaches us how homosexuality is sinful because it unites sexually-incompatible people, which relationship prevents the reproduction that God-ordained male–female marriage facilitates (Genesis 1:26-28; Genesis 2:18-25; Leviticus 18:22; Matthew 19:3-6; Mark 10:6-9; Romans 1:26,27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; 1 Timothy 1:9-11). Popularized by base propaganda, transgenderism is but fickle, unreliable feelings controlling those whose mental and emotional states are immature. Promotion of this fad produces irreversibly-altered, permanently-destroyed bodies!

“In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest [orderly, of good behavior] apparel, with shamefacedness [reverence] and sobriety [sober-mindedness, self-control]; not with broided [braided] hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh [is suitable for] women professing godliness) with good works” (1 Timothy 2:9,10). A Christian woman’s face should not be beyond feeling shame (embarrassment) if her appearance is indecent or impolite. Her reputation ought to be distinguished far more for exhibiting good works and far less for parading “fashionable” clothes, “stunning” jewelry, and “striking” makeup and hair. Physical form is superficial; I have met many “pretty faces” I would never bother with!

Stay sexually pure until marriage (cf. Proverbs 5:18-20), and marry “only in the Lord [another Bible-believer]” (1 Corinthians 7:39). “Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge” (Hebrews 13:4). “Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband…. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn” (1 Corinthians 7:2,9). If you offer your secret parts outside of marriage, then what is so special about marriage and what exactly will you reserve for it? Marry someone of the opposite sex ONLY after you get to know them well—their habits, likes/dislikes, employment history, potential criminal background, life goals, and so on. Remember, marriage is a binding commitment, much harder to escape than a “fling” or cohabitation (“chambering;” Romans 13:13).

If such advice is heeded, you will spare yourself an immense amount of emotional and physical pain….

If our physical posterity could augment its spiritual dexterity, exactly what would that entail?

Unfortunately, today’s adolescents and young adults have seldom been equipped with essential life skills. Even graduates of supposed “higher learning” have not mastered what is necessary for their survival in this world. Whether display of meager and provocative attire, or expression of crude and ignorant speech, or struggles in spelling basic words and using correct grammar, or disregard for the sanctity of life and the natural heterosexual (man-woman) marriage, or defiance to authority, or challenges of reading at their grade level, or frivolity in constant amusement, or inclinations toward materialism and ingratitude, or failure to learn history, or inability to cope maturely with problems and conflicts, or contempt for anything and everything “religious” and “spiritual;” the likelihood of them leading productive lives seems negligible. If they continue pursuing this course of life, the legacy they will leave behind for subsequent generations (their descendants) will be, to say the least, quite abysmal.

What young people can do to offset the decline, even slightly, is simple. For example, if they suffer from illiteracy, Bible reading will surely remedy it! Dictionaries and thesauruses, whether print or online, should become their friends. (I can remember, from long ago, my college [!] classmates misspelling words—and complaining because they had gotten points taken off their assignments for those errors!) Dictionaries provide spellings, parts of speech, definitions, etymologies, and other linguistic tips. Thesauruses help broaden personal vocabulary, for they are repositories of similar words that can make writing and speech more vivid and less boring.

Using online video tutorials to learn how to cook or prepare some basic and nutritious meals at home (scrambling eggs, assembling salads, preparing soups, grilling chicken) will save us money and avert poor health. Daily physical exercise or martial arts are advantageous in achieving weight loss or preventing excessive weight gain, for obesity (especially morbid obesity) is yet another challenge facing younger generations who tend to sit and lie down as they constantly scroll through social-media and play video games, computer games, phone games, and so on.

Such spiritual, mental, and physical health should be our priorities….

If our physical posterity could augment its spiritual dexterity, exactly what would that entail?

“This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness [loose, wild, crazy living], to work all uncleanness [impurity] with greediness. But ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness” (Ephesians 4:17-24).

As Romans chapters 6–8 make plain, victorious Christian living (“walking”) involves depending on our Christian resources (“Christ”) rather than our Adamic resources (“sin”). Only when we “study… rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15) will we understand how grace living (what God works in us when we trust Him) is far more advantageous than legalistic living (what we do for God, which Law system is always insufficient and flawed). The Books of 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, and Galatians are all deviations from basic Romans truth—and this is where most “Christian” people, most “Christian” churches, and most “Christian” schools are. Obsessed with the sins of the flesh (carnality/humanism) and the sins of the spirit (asceticism/denominationalism), they overlook what God can do for us through Christ’s finished crosswork (grace).

Believers today are the Church the Body of Christ, not the nation Israel. The prophetic program going all the way back to Adam is momentarily interrupted (Acts 3:21), that the mystery/secret program be in force (Romans 16:25,26). Paul’s 13 epistles, Romans to Philemon, define what God is currently doing. Exercise great caution where you and your family (if you ever have one) go to church. It should be a place where the King James Bible is studied rightly divided, where grace living is promoted instead of legalistic commands and demands….
