Neither Length Nor Fervor, But Clarity #3

“For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God” (1 Corinthians 2:11,12 KJV).

Let ministers depend on the Spirit of God as they deliver their sermons, and not rely on the (limited, weak) energy of the flesh!

An old cliché goes, “The Bible sheds a lot of light on commentaries!” This is said in jest, of course, since commentaries ought to shed light on the Bible. Just why do commentaries frequently make the Bible more confusing and complicated? They are the product of the “natural” (lost) man and/or the “carnal” (fleshly Christian) man! Very rarely is the “spiritual” man (a Christian led by the Spirit of God) writing or speaking about the words of God. It is this spiritual man who is connected to the same Holy Spirit who moved holy men of God to write the Holy Bible (1 Corinthians 2:15,16 cf. 2 Peter 1:20,21).

If someone is struggling to teach the Bible, or struggling to comprehend it, the following factors must be considered. Firstly, the teacher might be thinking in the energy of the flesh. Secondly, the student may be thinking in the energy of the flesh. It could even be a combination of both teacher and student leaning toward the flesh instead of toward the Spirit. Check today’s Scripture again, then read the verses immediately following: “Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” (verses 13,14).

For example, take any book about the Bible—a commentary—and read it. Where you see sound Bible doctrine, that was where the author had yielded to the Holy Spirit. Where you see false doctrine, that was where the writer was under the influence of the flesh….

Generally, both unbelievers and Christians are inclined to depend on their own resources in Adam in an attempt to pursue and identify truth. If they study enough “scholarly” journals, attend plenty of religious seminars, enroll in an abundance of philosophical classes, and/or think long and hard by themselves for a sufficient time, they assume they will eventually “see the light” and arrive at some sense of meaning or purpose, and finally get peace. This is to be expected of unbelievers, but not of Christians.

“This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:…” (Ephesians 4:17-21).

When Christians adopt the “vain” (empty, worthless, profitless) and “darkened” (dimmed, obscured) and “blind” (sightless) position of unbelievers, they have rendered themselves pagans practically because they are isolated from the words of the Holy Bible that the Holy Spirit uses to teach (1 Corinthians 2:13). They know about the Bible, they are aware of what others say about it, but they do not have any personal faith in it. Amazingly, this is even where many seminary professors are—yea, the very people “training” the majority of our preachers, teachers, and missionaries, who will then go out upon graduation and add to the confusion….

A dear brother in Christ observed many years ago: “The Devil cares not how long or how fervently a minister preaches—just as long as no one understands what he is talking about. High-swelling words that people cannot understand will not result in conviction for sin. The Gospel of God’s salvation should be presented in words so simple that a child can understand. Jesus used simple, understandable words when He preached, and we should follow His example. Thereby will the message of saving grace be expressed in words that anyone can understand.”

Since the vast majority of “Bible” colleges, “Christian” universities, and seminaries (Bible cemeteries) are founded upon secular principles and humanistic worldviews, it is no surprise their graduates are more versed in the words and wisdom of men than in the words and wisdom of God. That was the primary transgression of the Corinthian church. Philosophy, loving man’s wisdom, was fundamental to Greek culture. Read Paul’s speech to Athens, near Corinth, in Acts 17:22-31. There was unfathomable spiritual ignorance, and thus, extensive idolatry, there. “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,…” (Romans 1:20-22).

The Athenians were the result of God leaving man to himself. Man left to himself is “ignorant” (without knowledge) of the things of God (today’s Scripture; cf. Acts 17:29,30). God must send His Holy Spirit to teach people, but it is all the more unfortunate when ministers themselves are not under the leadership of the Holy Spirit either….

A Book That Will Teach

“Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual” (1 Corinthians 2:13 KJV).

Today’s Scripture tells us who alone we can trust to teach us God’s truth!

Once, I heard a minister give his self-proclaimed “prophetic” message about top headlines that would appear in the coming year. While he reassured his audience that he received this information directly from “the Lord” (?), he gave a disclaimer: “I do not know, but at the end of this year, we will see if what I say came to pass.” Unlike the inner impressions and hunches of this “Christian” preacher, the Holy Bible is infallible, and we can trust its information completely.

Long, long ago, God Almighty wrote a Book, and He preserved it through history through a multiplicity of manuscript copies, so that it could eventually be translated into English, so we could read it even today! (Of course, Satan, the master counterfeiter that he is, most certainly had his own manuscripts—they still circulate today as corrupt Bible translations.) God promised to preserve His words forever (Psalm 12:6,7; Isaiah 30:8; Matthew 24:35; 1 Peter 1:25). Consequently, every person will stand before Him one day to give account as to what he or she did with that Bible. Did we reject it in favor of counterfeits? Did we re-translate it to fit our denominational beliefs? Did we apply it to life by faith? Did we even read it at all?

As English-speaking people, we understand—or, at least, we should understand—that we can trust the 400-year-old King James Bible. Sadly, even in many church circles, we are often cautioned not to trust God’s preserved Word. Unfortunately, footnotes, study notes, and seminarians usually attempt to claim that authority by offering “better” readings or “better” manuscripts. Beloved, we can do without unbelieving textual critics and their “scholarship.” God does not need lost people to explain His Word to His children; He never did and He never will (1 Corinthians 2:14). Never forget that!

The Holy Spirit will teach us the King James Bible if we “read” (Ephesians 3:4), “study” (2 Timothy 2:15), and “consider” it (2 Timothy 2:7)!

The Person of the Year

“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow…” (Philippians 2:9,10a KJV).

Let us praise the 2024 Person of the Year—our Lord Jesus Christ!

Society’s most stressful time of year, the Christmas Season, is winding down. The year 2024 is nearly over, and a new year, 2025, will dawn soon. At this time every year, various groups and publications feature their particular choice for “Person of the Year.” Whether a chief of state, a philanthropist, a religious leader, a distinguished author or scientist, a television or radio personality, or some other “professional” who impacted society in a negative or positive way the most during the past year, they are all still people with limitations and frailties. One can accomplish all sorts of praiseworthy, generous, and awe-inspiring feats. However, what carries the most weight is the attitude, the heart, underlying the action, not the action. Was it Jesus Christ, or simply the flesh?

The one single event in history that pleased God the Father most was when His beloved Son, Jesus Christ, went by faith in His Word, to an awful Roman cross to suffer the worst possible and most graphic death a human ever experienced, to pay for our sins. “Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Mark 1:11). It is through that finished crosswork of Jesus Christ that He is still doing mighty works, 20 centuries later. How our Lord Jesus Christ has saved countless souls from sins and hell this past year, and how He has saved innumerable Christian souls from false doctrine and spiritual ruin.

Jesus Christ, who in death defeated His greatest enemy (Satan), was raised by God the Father and is now the ascended and glorified Lord Jesus Christ (today’s Scripture). Saints, may we ever thank and praise our Saviour Jesus Christ for what He has done for us, what He has done with us, and what He will do with us next year… and all the countless ages thereafter….

NOTE: Saints, believe it or not, we close yet another year of grace ministry. Thank you for your continued prayer and encouragement these last 12 months. We surely needed it. While we have come so very far, we still have so much more ground to cover, so much more sound Bible doctrine to learn and believe, and we look forward to serving you here for at least another year (provided our Lord Jesus Christ wills it). So, with that, I sign off for 2024. See you in 2025! 🙂

The Misunderstood Messiah #4

“Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God” (John 8:41 KJV).

Did you ever notice the magnitude of the insult put forth toward Jesus Christ in today’s Scripture?

Society’s anti-Bible, anti-Christian attitude is nothing new. While today’s Bible-believing, Bible-quoting Christian is accused of “hate speech” and “bigotry,” the “non-narrow-minded” face no repercussion for their slandering of the Lord Jesus Christ and their trampling His Word under foot. Due to sin, the world is upside down, and when the Christian attempts to expose it, he or she is to blame. The world wants Romans 3:4 to read, “Let every man be true, but God a liar!”

Like the (self-righteous) Pharisees of old, lost mankind, despite religious participation, has no capacity to stop sin. Never become angry at the world and never let their behavior puzzle you. Sinners do nothing but sin: by nature, man literally knows nothing but sin. As Jesus said to the lost Pharisees, “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do” (John 8:44a). What they need is not simply to stop their activity (sins); they need a new nature from God! Today’s Scripture demonstrates the Pharisees’ willful ignorance of their sinful state.

Like the (“educated”) Pharisees of old, lost mankind, despite several degrees, has no capacity to understand the Bible. The Pharisees studied their Old Testament scrolls, yet they were equivalent to today’s average seminary graduate—years of Bible “study” and no (!) Bible understanding. Today’s Scripture demonstrates the Pharisees’ willful ignorance of one of hundreds of Old Testament prophecies that foretold Jesus Christ’s coming. They had plenty of philosophy and religion, but they had no capacity to understand and appreciate the Bible. People today do not need degrees to comprehend the Bible; they need the Spirit of God! “But the natural [lost] man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned [judged, evaluated]” (1 Corinthians 2:14).

“See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,…” (Ephesians 5:15 KJV).

What is the sense of “walk circumspectly” here?

Dear friend, if you have operated or ridden in a motor vehicle, you will certainly recall instances of erratic drivers—speeding, sideswiping, swerving into your lane or off the road, failing to negotiate sharp curves, tailgating, rear-ending, running red lights or stop signs. Only a naïve person believes the roadway is safe for drivers and pedestrians. Unless we pay attention to what we are doing while driving and what others are doing while driving, we will collide with them and they will hit us.

We should be on the lookout especially for impaired drivers, those intoxicated with alcohol or using illegal drugs. Likewise, we ourselves had better not be inebriated with false doctrine in the Christian life: “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;…” (Ephesians 5:18). Provided we are under the Holy Spirit’s influence in word and deed, we are safe from the spiritual threats of life in a fallen, sin-cursed world—including protection from those under the influence of erroneous doctrine (false teaching). “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles [tricks, schemes] of the devil…. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand” (Ephesians 6:11,13).

The average professing Christian has absolutely no idea what spiritual perils await—but he or she will find out in due time! They will get into a wreck and sustain scrapes and bruises, or a broken arm or leg, or perhaps a major head concussion or broken neck or back. For the rest of their spiritual life, they will hobble or remain paralyzed, barely getting by. Listen to them as they talk about spiritual matters or pray. They have such a distorted view of Bible doctrines. There are more questions than answers, more weakness than strength, more doubt than faith, more illness than health. If we hang around them and their denominational systems long enough, we too will find ourselves in a spiritual sickbed… or perhaps a casket!

Live defensively… “walk circumspectly!”

“See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,…” (Ephesians 5:15 KJV).

What is the sense of “walk circumspectly” here?

Ephesians 5:17 adds, “Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.” Instead of “fools,” we are “wise” (today’s Scripture). We “understand what the will of the Lord is.” What is the Lord doing today? We go to Paul’s epistles, Romans through Philemon. If we do by faith what God Himself is doing, we are automatically doing His will. “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:1,2).

“For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;…” (Colossians 1:9-11).

Yet, the vast majority of church members and professing Christians do not understand the Lord’s will for their life because they are depending on man’s wisdom and are doing man’s will. “But I trust the scholars” seems to be the motto of most of our churches and schools. Those esteemed as “Bible scholars” are typically people who know little to nothing about the Bible—instead, they are Greek scholars, Hebrew scholars, Latin scholars, church history scholars, denominational scholars. Their misinformation is then taken into the hearts and minds of Christians as though it was God’s life and light… when it was not. No wonder there is no Divine wisdom or power in our churches and schools and homes, and sin and ignorance beset us time and time again. We must live defensively, vigilantly, prudently—“walk circumspectly.”

“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers” (Ephesians 4:29 KJV).

What is this “corrupt communication?”

One spiteful critic stated he rejected our position because we King James Bible users claim to have knowledge with certainty. Echoing a classic humanist (a pagan, in fact), he contended “we can know nothing for certain” (then, Luke 1:4 is untrue?). Strangely, this seminary graduate has a ministry as a “Christian apologist,” someone who allegedly defends Jesus’ teachings against cults (he knows something for certain, apparently)! He is also cognizant his “scholarly” modern-version friends would disown him in a heartbeat if he dare support the King James Bible! “Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God” (John 12:42,43). It is these kinds of people “in ministry” we had better watch out for and totally avoid!

If anyone questions your exclusive use of the King James Bible, or complains it has mistakes, then ask them to show you a Bible you can trust 100 percent. They will not present it to you. All they will offer you is another Bible they find fault with as well. This is the corrupt fruit of textual criticism, and we are certain it has poisoned almost every Bible college, minister, local church, “Christian” book, “Christian” sermon, and Christian soul through the centuries. People who have been robbed of an authoritative, perfect Bible now attempt to take it away from us, so we no longer pose a threat to their church, theological system, or seminary indoctrination.

Dear friends, here is the subtlest form of “corrupt communication,” the deadliest type of misinformation, and the costliest kind of education—stunting the growth of billions of church members, producing more heresy and apostasy than atheism, agnosticism, and free-thinking combined. The position of faith is to believe God’s perfectly preserved Word and words in English are the King James Bible. Any other conclusion is doubtful, subject to change, and rank unbelief. Mark it well, and never forget it!

No Corrupt Communication #21

“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers” (Ephesians 4:29 KJV).

What is this “corrupt communication?”

Our 400-year-old King James Bible’s “archaic” (old-fashioned) terminology is criticized ad nauseam. English is indeed a living language: words and definitions are being added and deleted as time passes. It is also a diverse language, borrowing from various other tongues. Hence, English is deteriorating, especially as slang becomes more commonplace. The King James Bible’s English is quite precise, far more representative of the original Bible languages than today’s English, and thus vastly superior to modern English.

Not only was the King James Bible translated when English was at its purest (seventeenth century), study of the original Bible languages (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Koine Greek) was exploding like never before. The Protestant Reformation a century prior had generated much spiritual enlightenment (which the Roman Catholic Church hithertofore had stifled via superstitions and blind reliance on literate priests who misled the illiterate masses). Yea, no man or group of men assembled today could ever come close to producing another King James Bible. What we need to do is be thankful for what those 1611 scholars left us, and stop the petulant whining and juvenile emendations (“poor translation,” “mistranslation,” “the original Greek or Hebrew says…”—such baseless grievances equating to “corrupt communication”).

The professing church, and even the genuine church, finds itself in an unenviable position. Having been so brainwashed to question the King James Bible, it does not give a second thought to retranslation or replacement with a modern version. The Authorized Version is so distrusted in countless minds that they are now vulnerable to teachers, preachers, and professors who have been educated (willingly or inadvertently) by Roman Catholic scholarship that wishes to reverse the Reformation. With Protestants lacking firm faith in their Bible, the traditionalists who worship “scholarship” or manmade systems can then “help.” Allegedly, “Holy Mother Church” and her “informed” servants will give us the real Word of God—not only what it means, but what it is (Codices Vaticanus and Sinaiticus!). This is what Protestant leaders have stimulated by relentlessly attacking their King James Bible, so we dare not dismiss the Bible versions issue as unimportant!
