Organize and Prioritize

I am often asked how I manage my extremely busy writing ministry. There are two methods. Firstly, I have organized on calendars the various tasks that need to be done on any given day, or in any given week or month. Those schedules reach several days or weeks into the future. At times, when much needs to be written, I resort to electronic dictation (where my computer types for me as I speak). On other occasions, when little writing in necessary, I manually type (like right now). There are times when typing is actually more efficient than dictation.

Secondly, I am selective when addressing written correspondence from others. Every critic does not need to be answered. I receive so many Bible questions every week, so I try to answer the easier ones first and get them out of the way. The more detailed questions are set aside for further study and thoughtful prayer. Ninety-five to ninety-nine percent of our emails get answered. The other five to one percent of emails are actually disregarded and deleted/spammed because of insulting, uncivilized language and downright stupidity. (Yes, “stupidity” is the most appropriate term to describe it!)

The Apostle Paul prayed that the Philippians—although mature—would grow more. They needed to love “more and more in knowledge and in all judgment” (today’s Scripture). We can all come to a greater awareness and discernment as to why we should love God and love others (especially fellow Christians). This will cause us to “approve things that are excellent [of greater value].” Daily intake of sound Bible doctrine enables us to see which actions are necessary in any given situation to best glorify Father God. Let us be wise in using our time… let us be wise in how we use our time, too! 🙂

333’s 1900th – The Greatness of God’s Grace

“[The word of the truth of the gospel] Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth” (Colossians 1:6 KJV).

Dear friends, solely by God’s grace, devotional #1900 is here! Here is a “behind-the-scenes” look at “333 Words of Grace.”

The most common question received these past five years concerns the number “333.” (One fearful person inquired if it was related to “666!”) Actually, “333” is the approximate word limit for each study, excluding the words in the main Scripture text. This safeguards me from rambling, and it protects you the readers from being overwhelmed. From day 1, we have always aimed to communicate the dispensational truths of God’s Word (King James Bible) as clearly and concisely as possible!

Inspiration for studies comes from various sources—events in my life, Bible questions people recently asked, snippets from counseling sessions with others, questions raised in my own personal Bible study, news stories, science articles, et cetera. Each study is described as: topical (particular theme), and/or expository (specific verse, passage, or book), and/or exhortation (encouragement). Some devotionals were written in a matter of minutes. Others literally involved years of study and writing before you read them! (I still have dozens of unfinished ones from five years ago when we first started this blog!) At least 1500 new devotionals are planned.

Our studies are designed not only to explain how the Christian life operates, but also clarify how God’s other people in the Bible—the nation Israel—functions. We study all of the Bible, for it is all God’s Word. However, we always recognize and respect its dispensational layout, lest we wind up confused like the rest of professing “Christianity!”

When the Gospel of God’s Grace is preached to the lost, and the Message of God’s Grace is preached to the Christians, it brings forth fruit (today’s Scripture). Lost souls will be saved from hell, and Christian souls will be saved from religious bondage! These last 1900 days have demonstrated that in all our lives. Onward in Christ we go to devotional #2000! 🙂

Not a Bother to Satan! #3

“For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil” (Hebrews 5:12-14 KJV).

A wise Christian brother observed long ago: “There are some believers whom Satan seldom bothers because they do not cause him too much worry, they do not threaten his program; but strong Christians are always his targets and he puts countless snares and pitfalls in their way.” How appropriate, even today!

Satan does not like God’s truth reaching the masses. So, his evil world system will entice God’s messenger to change the message. If the Christian refuses to apostatize, but rather faithfully continues sharing God’s pure Word with others, then Satan will move from attacking the message to attacking the messenger. The Christian will be persecuted, discouraged, or even killed!

Today’s Scripture describes how Satan had neutralized Israel. Confused and weakened, she was no bother to him anymore. Spiritual ignorance would continue among the Gentiles! But, individual Jews had accepted Jesus as Messiah-King and had separated themselves from their apostate nation. Satan turned his attention to these believers. The Devil and his allies persecuted those believing Jews into the early Acts period. Refusing to change God’s message, those Jewish kingdom believers were thus attacked literally and physically. Israel’s corrupt religious leaders arrested, imprisoned, and even killed Jesus’ followers! That believing remnant in Israel had certainly caused Satan much grief, and God permitted him to take their lives. Nevertheless, they were true to God’s Word to the end.

“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution” (2 Timothy 3:12). As the wise Christian brother wrote decades ago, friend, you attempt to let Christ Jesus live His life in you, and you will learn that Satan will not like it! Still, may you be a bother to Satan! 🙂

The writer of today’s Scripture, penning it during the Acts period, rebuked Israel of her corporate negligence to learn the lessons of the Old Testament Scriptures. Ignoring the hundreds of prophecies she had heard and read for centuries, Israel had recently and publicly rejected her Messiah and demanded the Roman government crucify Him. Israel had utterly failed to learn God’s Word! Since the Jews did not know God’s Word, they would be unable to teach it to the Gentiles as God intended (cf. Isaiah 60:1-3; Zechariah 8:20-23). God had called Israel to be separate, so Israel could be a light to the nations. Yet, Israel allowed Satan to deceive her with religious tradition, pagan idolatry, et cetera. Down she went!

Sadly, the professing church finds itself in the same awful predicament today. It too has not learned the lessons of the Old Testament. It has not learned from Israel’s mistakes. It too has abandoned God’s Word to it. Like national Israel, most church members today can only handle spiritual milk, Bible basics. They ask the same old questions they have asked for centuries. Since they never approach God’s Word rightly divided, they will keep asking those same childish questions and never get meaningful answers. Instead of being mature adults in Scripture, able to stomach spiritual meat, they must be taught rather than teach! As Israel will become one day, may they also become a bother to Satan!

Recall 2 Timothy 2:26: “And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.” All lost people are “taken captive by [Satan] at his will” because they are not living as God intended humans to live. God created mankind to fellowship with Him! But, sin entered through Adam’s disobedience, and now, all people are born in sin, cut off from God. Denominational Christians are “taken captive by [Satan] at his own will” because they are not living as God intended Christians to live. They are to be filled with His Word, not traditions of men!

In accordance with 1 Timothy 2:4—“God will have all men to be saved, and come unto the knowledge of the truth”—we have a two-fold task as Bible-believing, Pauline-dispensational Christians. Firstly, we preach the Gospel of God’s Grace to lost people so they can be saved from eternal hellfire. Secondly, we preach the Message of God’s Grace to saved people so they can be saved from false teaching.

Re-read today’s Scripture. The Devil knew that if he could wean Israel from the truths JEHOVAH God had given her through the “Old Testament” Scriptures, Israel could never fulfill God’s purpose for her. With Israel being unable to accomplish God’s will in the Earth, Satan could keep on doing what he wanted in the Earth unopposed….

Life-Verse

“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11 KJV).

Today’s Scripture is my “life-verse.” Christian friend, what is yours?

A “life-verse” is simply a Bible verse that briefly describes and plays an important role in your Christian life and ministry on a daily basis. It should be a verse that is dispensationally-handled (that is, one not ripped out of context). You can memorize it and summarize your life with it whenever someone asks.

I started using Isaiah 55:11 years ago as part of my email signature. That verse has constantly reminded me that, every time I send out a ministry email, a Bible study, or a word of counsel to an inquisitive mind, God’s Word is going forth and I need not worry about it being a waste of time. God’s Word will always prosper wherever He sends it. It will accomplish what He wants. I have done all I can in getting it out. His Word will take care of itself!

Some Christians have picked 1 Corinthians 15:58 as their life-verse: “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” Others have chosen Philippians 1:21: “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Still others have decided to take Titus 2:13: “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.” Joshua 24:15 is another popular life-verse: “…[A]s for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Other life-verses include—Romans 12:1, 1 Thessalonians 2:13, Proverbs 3:5-6, Acts 26:18, Isaiah 40:8, Hebrews 13:6, Psalm 118:8, and Psalm 27:1. (You can always choose Isaiah 55:11, too!)

Christian friend, with your life-verse in mind, you can conduct your Christian life with God’s insight in sight. It will encourage you immensely and serve as a reminder that with the power of God’s Word working in you who believe, your Christian walk will be pleasing to our Lord Jesus Christ! 🙂

arC Ministries Is 9!

“Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God” (2 Corinthians 5:20 KJV).

To our Lord Jesus Christ’s glory, arC Ministries celebrated its ninth anniversary this past Sunday!

Nine years ago, as an 18-year-old college student, I endeavored to use Facebook to create a Bible study group for teens and college students. Thus, “ambassadors for the risen Christ ministries” was born. As I grew more in God’s Word rightly divided, I grew increasingly aware of the need for additional ministry projects. The more I had been learning drove me to share those precious truths with others. That eventually led me to look for supplementary avenues of ministry.

During these past nine years, God’s grace has enabled us to continue the original group on Facebook. In addition, we have branched out quite a bit in other areas. This devotionals blog has been operating for over five years now. For the last four years, we have focused on developing and drafting a grace study Bible (now in its fifth year). Other ministry projects include a 22-week newspaper ministry column (this devotionals blog’s predecessor), a YouTube channel with home Bible study videos, a Twitter feed, a full-length Bible studies blog, a college campus ministry, a nursing-home ministry, and our Bible-question-and-answer blog. Earlier this year, we launched our new main ministry website and now have a line of printed Bible study booklets available for sale there. We hear from people all over the world!

Our name says it all: we serve the risen Lord Jesus Christ, not some “dead Jew” and not ourselves. The original motto of our ministry was, “To equip ambassadors, and to encourage others to become ambassadors.” Our primary goal is to teach Christians, and our secondary goal is to evangelize the lost world. Nine years later, we still endeavor to uphold God’s Word (King James Bible) rightly divided, whether it be in edifying the Christian brethren or preaching the clear Gospel of the Grace of God to this lost and dying world. For those of you who have been with us from day 1, thank you for your prayer and encouragement. We pray for you upon every remembrance! There is still plenty more for the Lord Jesus Christ to do in and through us, so let us give Him all the praise and glory as we enter Year 10! 🙂

A Grace Study Bible

“And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also” (2 Timothy 2:2 KJV).

Today, we reflect on four full years of the arC Ministries’ Grace Study Bible Project!

Nearly 100 years ago, the Scofield Study Bible was published. It was a work that popularized—not invented—dispensational Bible study. For a century, the Church the Body of Christ has used this monumental aid to edify itself. It was (and still is) useful in recovering precious Bible truths that had been lost for centuries, doctrines still pushed aside by denominational hierarchies that prefer to be the “authority” with their “tradition of men.”

Four years ago today, after much prayer and consideration, I began the formation of a new grace study Bible. Using the King James Bible, my goal in this project is to build on Dr. Scofield’s foundation laid long ago. We are (and will always be) indebted to that brother for his faithful service, his submission to the Holy Spirit to produce a profitable study Bible. (Incidentally, Dr. Scofield led a missionary to Christ, that missionary led a preacher to Christ, that preacher led a woman to Christ, that woman led Mom to Christ, and Mom led me to Christ.) What took Dr. Scofield decades to learn, we can acquire in a fraction of that time. Brother Scofield did not live long enough to progress any further in Bible understanding, but in the century since he has gone to heaven, a faithful remnant within the Body of Christ has expanded upon Dr. Scofield’s insightful notes. We recognize where he was wrong in certain areas, and we can improve those areas in our understanding and study.

In brief, some stats about our grace study Bible. We seem to be roughly 40 to 45 percent completed with it. How many more years it will take remains to be seen, but rest assured, what cannot be condensed into marginal notes or footnotes, will be, Lord willing, expanded into a full-Bible commentary book series! Light and Understanding

“The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple” (Psalm 119:130 KJV).

Behold, light and understanding are in the Word of God rightly divided!

Today’s Scripture is so simple that even a small child can grasp it. Unfortunately, many seminary-educated preachers, many “scholarly” persons, and many religious leaders could not comprehend that verse even if their lives depended on it! They have been so “tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine” (Ephesians 4:14)—their minds scrambled and their hearts hardened. When the spiritual light of God’s Word shines, they hide behind an intellectual or religious argument, lest the light expose them and convert them from their wayward path!

Still, despite all the willful ignorance described above, there are a handful of genuine souls. They are really trying to find the truth; they are waiting for some Bible-believing Christian to help them. Dear brethren, dearly beloved in the Lord, we should not be lackadaisical. There are some very confused people out there seeking answers; they need the light of the Gospel of Christ to shine on their hearts so they can be saved unto eternal life. There are some very confused Christians out there; they need the light of the Message of Grace to shine on their hearts so they can learn sound Bible doctrine. Let us not sit around waiting for some other person to do it. We should get out and do it. Win souls to Jesus Christ, and edify Christian souls to His glory! Go! Go! Go!

Some have no interest whatsoever in learning the truths of God’s Word rightly divided. But, there are others who are praying for God to enlighten them. We need to be ready to reach them whenever they request our assistance. Let us study and be prepared to answer their questions! In this world of increasing darkness and confusion, God’s Word rightly divided is a beacon of understanding. It shines ever so brightly. Let us be “mirrors,” reflecting that light so all can see and come to Christ Jesus! The fruit in eternity will be so much more exciting than we could possibly imagine here! 🙂

Prayer and the Word

“But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word” (Acts 6:4 KJV).

Any ministry worth anything must have these two elements—prayer and the ministry of the Word.

When the book of Acts opens, Israel’s Little Flock grows more and more. Please note that while early Acts has absolutely nothing to do with us, the Church the Body of Christ, we can still learn a valuable lesson. As these Jewish kingdom saints are pooling together their wealth (Acts 2:44,45; Acts 4:31-37; cf. Luke 12:31-33), goods are being distributed to needy believers. They are living for one another—a picture of God’s earthly kingdom yet future!

Chapter 6 of Acts, the context of today’s Scripture, says: “[1] And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians [foreign Jews] against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration. [2] Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. [3] Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. [4] But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.”

The 12 apostles, unlike so many (clueless) church leaders today, actually knew their priorities. It was not to distribute funds to those in need. Rather, they chose seven honest, Spirit-filled, wise men to undertake that task. The 12 apostles were very much aware of the importance of prayer and the ministry of the Word. They were to continue talking to God in light of His Word to them, and they were to continue telling others His Word to them. Every other responsibility could be delegated elsewhere.

Philanthropic issues are all well and good, but when our churches are too busy organizing blood drives, clothing drives, food drives, et cetera, they are ignoring prayer and God’s Word. They need to get their priorities straight, lest their “ministry”—void of God’s words and power—vanishes!
