“Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word” (Psalm 119:9 KJV).
If our physical posterity could augment its spiritual dexterity, exactly what would that entail?
John 12:1-8 reports: “Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead. There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him. Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which should betray him, Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein. Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this. For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.”
Indeed, as the Apostles’ treasurer, Judas Iscariot was the most trusted—yet, he was nothing but a hypocrite and common thief. Seemingly interested in helping the poor, he only wanted to help himself, being just another embezzler trying to pass himself off in ministry as a “servant of the Lord.” Dear friend, do you happen to know anyone in religion today who claims to “care for the poor” (who goes on and on and on about “the poor,” “the poor,” “the poor”) but whose church, denomination, or theological system hoards wealth untold? See, the people who built those institutions were duped, tricked, cheated (and in doing so they became “the poor” themselves!)—but they will never (!) admit it because they are too embarrassed! They still think constructing steeples, shrines, cathedrals, belltowers, and religious schools automatically equates to worship of God, but they are woefully ignorant that it is worship of Satan without any underlying sound Bible doctrine.
Moving away from money matters (we withhold further commentary on it), we now tackle yet another grossly misunderstood subject of Scripture….
